It's all Tonya's Fault!

Sometime a girl just has to play! And a few days ago Tonya showed a wonderful little quilt she made just to spotlight a fun piece of fabric. And I just fell in love with it and decided I had to play too. :-)

When Susan came to visit a few months ago she came bearing gifts. One of them was this great cat print. Even thought the colors are neon bright I think the kitties look sooooo elegant and I just couldn't bear to cut them up. So thanks to Tonya's inspiration I decided to make me a little quilt like hers.

This was my first attempt at the letters but not my last. They're just so much fun I can already think of several more pieces I want to do that incorporate the words.

This took me about 3 hours from first cut to finished top. It finished at about 25" X 30". And I would estimate it will take about 1-1/2 to 2 yds out of my stash with backing and binding and some odd scraps left over. So now that's out of my system I'll get back to my regularly scheduled quilting.

Oh Nancy - it is wonderful! Ever since I saw Tonya's little piece like that I've been racking my brain for a piece of fabric to do this with! Yours is adorable! But don't forget Tonya loves cats too so don't let her take it from you!

I have some similar animal fabric that I'm not fond of, but using it like this would be a hoot! Another quick project to add to my Wish List.

Thanks for sharing!

Isn't that cute!! Will this be for the kitty's to nap on?

Oh, yeah---I forgot that they nap wherever they want, LOL.

How clever!

Nice job Nancy! I have several cat prints, and this is adorable. Aren't letters addictive? Although I have many plans and little to show for it!

Cute!

My sister in law has asked me for some little quilted pieces that she can use for hot-pot sitters on her countertops. I bought some of that heat-proof silvery ironing board fabric ... this kind of thing would be ideal on the front!

Nancy, this is so much fun. I wouldn't want to cut that fabric up either. Your letters are excellent and W in particular is hard to make, so that's even more impressive. You did great!

Nancy - it is great! Good for you for getting it done and putting that great cat fabric to such good use! Makes me think that maybe I could pick a wall somewhere to do a seasonal wallhanging - there are so many great seasonal novelty prints!

Cheers!

Gee, it didn't take you long to run with Tonya's idea and get a fun quilt out of the deal...sounds like it is just the right size to use as a wallhanging on your sewingroom door...or would that be a doorhanging?

Looks brilliant - those cats are soooo elegant - I have a piece of train fabric that also wouldn't appreciate cutting up - might just have to do something along the same lines as a fun wallhanging for DH for his train layout area in the garage :o)
