Weave times 2

When I finished Chocolat Weave this morning I was rummaging in my stash looking for something to work on next. I've been collecting cat prints for years. And over time have sorted them into cartoon cats and realistic cats. The cartoon cats are easy to find patterns for but I've searched for a pattern to use the realistic ones in on and off for years and just never found anything that struck me. That is until today. And I have to also give Calico Cat Amy credit because she put the idea in the back of my mind. She asked for info on where to get the weave pattern because she could see cat fabric in those nice big pieces. And I though, "Yeah, that might be nice." and told her where to find the pattenr and promptly didn't think about it again. Until my eye rested on the stack of cat fabric when I was searching for something to work with. Hhmmmmm. Wonder if they would make a good weave? Of the pieces that had enough for this pattern there were 3 lights and 3 med/darks. Which is exactly what I needed for vertical stripes. So I dug around in my stash until I came up with 3 black/grays and 4 creams to do the horizontal rows. I also found a rust for a thin inner border and a gray print for the outer border. It's been a long day at the sewing machine and I'm tired tonight so I'll get those cut and maybe on tomorrow night.

Once again you might notice Sam sitting on the top. As I was getting ready to lay it out to thake the picture I told David, "watch this." As soon as I got it laid out and kinda smoothed Sam jumped off the couch and arranged himself on it. I tried to shoo him off but he wasn't being very co-operative. David just laughed and said, "Well it IS a cat quilt after all." I don't guess I have to wonder who gets this quilt. Looks like Sam has first dibs. LOL!

Beautiful. I recognize two of the prints that is in my stasch too. I think cats have a special desire for fabrics. My cat Frida does this too. When I lay a quilt out on the floor she is there and sit on it. And in my sewingroom the best place to sleep is on top of some fabric.

It really looks great. LOL Sjors goes always on my quilts too, he loves them the most when they aren't finished yet.

I think it's even nicer in the cat fabrics (if that's possible) and the cat certainly likes it :o)

I love the design and your cat prints. Sam is a true quilt lover. I have some fabric squares that I have been saving and will look great with that design.

I'm curious about this pattern, too. In both of yours, there are little gray squares and I can't tell whether they're fabric or the carpet underneath! Please reveal the secret of the weave to all of us!

Okay, I need the pattern as well. I really think that this would be great for all the cherry fabric that I have been saving up.

That is going to look great! I really like Chocolate Weave as well and I am glad to hear you are keeping it since you and your DH like it so much. Great picture of all the cats crammed together on the couch. Sweet!

I love the Weave pattern. What a good way to show off large prints, including cat prints. Apparently Sam approves of your cat quilt. So do I.

What is it with cats and quilts I wonder? I now have to make sure WiP is put away at night, otherwise 2 cats asleep on it the next morning.

Great fabric.
