I'm in the process of cleaning/rearranging my sewing room so no sewing going on. I've been boxing stuff up in my sewing room and taking it out to David's shop to get it out of the way while I clean. Then I got sidetracked from this project when I got sick and have just started back on it.

My sewing room had got so bad that I couldn't even get in the door, much less find my stuff when I needed/wanted it. I have back problems so I knew I could never clean, rearrange, and resort all in one setting. Not even with a full weekend as I have to work a little, rest a little, work a little, etc. David's the one who came up with the idea of boxing stuff up to get it out of my way. I'm now to the clean/rearrange stage and hopefully by Saturday I'll be ready to start moving stuff back in. As I bring in a box it will be unpacked and put in it's proper place. If I can't find a proper place for it, then I don't need it and will be getting rid of it.

I had a lot of sewing patterns from the days when I made my clothes. It's been at least 8 years since I've done that and I don't see that happening again anytime soon. Most of these are very outdated so those have already gone to goodwill. Along with most of my clothing fabric stash. If I decide I want to make clothes at some time in the future at least I won't be starting with fabric and patterns that are at least 10 years out of date.

Anyway, I hope to be sewing again next week. I have lots of ideas for my wonky village that I'm just itching to get started on. Unfortunately I want to use some of my batik stash and (except for the ones I got in the mail last week) they are all in a box in the shop. I do have my handpiecing project that I've been working on a little each day so I can do a little hand stitching when I'm resting. I found a little applique heart quilt that I've almost finished the quilting on and for some reason put aside. I was going to post a pic but blogger won't let me add photos right now so I'll share that later.

In the meantime, back to work.....

good for you to give yourself a paced, relaxed approach to cleaning and purging your sewing room! You will be so happy when you are done! Looking forward to seeing your village grow.

You know it does always feel good when we can put some order in the disorder of our sewing spaces! Sorry you didn't feel well, but I'm impressed you cleaned and toted boxes anyway!! High fives for that!! Hugs, Finn

Thanks for the idea for cleaning up. I've got a giant closet (spare bedroom/office) that's going to be turned into my sewing room/office.

I keep walking in there and turning around and leaving because I can't figure out where to start. I think I'll pretend I'm moving and start packing up boxes. Thanks for the inspiration.

(And thanks for sharing that things can be done in small spurts. It was a good reminder that little blocks of work add up to big accomplishments.)

Hugs.
