I am so P#%&ED OFF!

I'm out of town so David went out to eat with his boss and some friends. When he got home he noticed a couple of cats that he thought he'd left inside were outside! Then when he got to the porch he saw some of our stuff laid out on the porch. He thinks he scared the burglers off when he came home. It doesn't look like they got anything but his laptop computer and a small bb pistol that looks real. But they were sure planning on a good haul with the stuff they had laid out! Looks like they kicked the front door in. So David will be taking tomorrow off and calling around to see what he can get in a security system ASAP.

The computer isn't a total loss as it's my old one and he's been talking about getting a new one for himself. Bad thing is we had a file on that computer of all our online accounts. Bank, credit cards, etc. with username and partial passwords. But in his email - also on that computer - were messages where passwords had been emailed to him that had the string of letters/numbers we always put behind those few letters to make our unique passwords. SOOOOO I've been sitting here changing passwords/login info for all our accounts. You can pretty much guess I'm not going to get much sleep tonight. I think someone else besides me will be doing the driving when we head back home in a few hours!

I feel so helpless to be 7 hours away when I know he needs me tonight. And I feel so VIOLATED!!! I've never felt unsafe to be there alone but I'm not sure I'll ever feel safe again. And I'm especially wary since it took the sherrif 40 minutes to get there and that's after telling the neighbor who called for David that "Oh they're probably gone now. Tell him he can go on inside." David called them back and told him he was NOT going inside until they checked it out first since he had no way to know if there was no one still inside.

Guess I should try to get a little sleep. I just needed to vent a little. LOL!

Oh man - how horrible... Hopefully it works out in the end.

I am assuming that everyone is o.k. & that all of the fur babies are accounted for...

Nancy, while my husband and son were on vacation in another state they woke to find someone had stolen our car. I can totally relate to the anger, fear, frustration and helplessness you are feeling. This happened in 1996, it still makes me ill to think that someone would do this. I am so sorry, I pray you find some peace and that your home can once again become your refuge.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear of the break-in. This happened to use many years ago and I know how you feel. You and your husband will be in my prayers.

Nancy- I have had things stolen from me too...it makes you feel so helpless...then having to replace all the stolen things cancel cards (last year had my wallet stolen twice!! perils of having two kids driving you distracted while out and about...)

I'm so sorry it happened to you. Big hugs from Ireland!

Oh, gosh, that's awful, Nancy. It's a terrible inconvenience to have to redo all the passwords, etc. I'm just so thankful this didn't happen in the middle of the night when you were both home. You are both safe, hopefully the kitties are all right, and that's absolutely the most important thing.

((((HUGS)))) for you.

Oh, I am SO sorry. That sounds terrifying on so many levels. I hope you took care of all the passwords in time, and that you can get a security system that will help you to feel safe again!!!!!

Oh! So sorry it happened to you. :(

One night somebody broke into my car - didn't look like they had taken anything (I don't even keep loose change in it!) But ever since then, I've been keeping a closer eye on my car.

*hugs* Sure can understand your upsetness!

this awful, Nancy. If there is any consolation, it was David who came home to find this and not you?

I don't blame you a bit for your anger over the situation either.

I am so sorry that happened to you. Along with the frustration it makes you feel so violated. Hope you get everything worked out before they have a chance to try anything.

It's frightening isn't it! Happened to me last year. I walked in on the robbers and I live alone and they know it (they live in the neighborhood). They were in my house all weekend. I haven't slept well since Oct.

I don't envy you the job of cancelling accounts/passwords, etc. It's a total nightmare.

Oh my gosh Nancy...I can't imagine how terrible you must be feeling. And I wish I know something I could say that would help, but I don't know how you get back to a place of trust and comfort after that kind of violation.
Hope all the fur babies are ok.So happy that David didn't get hurt physically in all of this. Extremely frustration to be 7 hours away, and then to have all the rest to deal with.
Big hugs((((((HUGS))))))), Finn

Christmas before last we were out of town and our house was robbed Xmas morning. It really sucked. They took lots of sentimental stuff that was worth nothing to them but lots to me. As well as guns and electronics and our truck. You are very lucky that your hubby interupted them and they didn't get more!! A security system will make you feel safer, it did with us. Sending hugs your way!

Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm glad your DH interrupted them. I hope you're able to get a security system installed quickly. If you're anything like me, it will be a very long time before you are able to sleep with both eyes closed. I think the violation part is what bothers me more than the fact that they take stuff!

Why can't people be nice?

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear that this has happened - glad to hear that David is OK though. Phew! This has happened to me 2X in 2 different houses in 2 different countries - sigh. If you stay at home alot you might want to consider the super-duper security system that beeps everytime a window is even opened - might be worth the peace of mind. I am a bit paranoid about my windows and keep special locks on them so they don't open too wide, ditto for the sliders, etc. At least you knew immediately about the theft of the laptop and went right to work changing the passwords. Phew. Sending cyber-hugs your way.

Cheers!

Evelyn

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I can't imagine what you are feeling. So glad no one was hurt physically, though I know emotionally you were.

So sorry you had to join the club of those who've had home break-ins. Your right it could have been worse, but that doesn't discount how utterly horrible it was regardless! It took me several years to recover from a home invasion, and it still effects me as I wake to the least little sound and my first thought is "who'se there"... Thankfully you new your account info was vulnerable and have been able to speedily change it. hugs being sent your way.
