A few weeks ago before my sister came to visit I was doing a search for quilt shops to take her to while she was here. I came across an article about a shop in Blessing, Tx., The Blessing Fabric and Bead Studio. That struck a bell with me and I got to thinking I'd heard of Blessing in relation to our Markham office (where I was going to be the next week). Sure enough it's about 10 miles from the office so I decided to check it out when I was in town. Let me tell you I fell in love as soon as I walked in the door. All the fabrics were the bright and bold colors and prints I love. Not a 30s or 1800s or Thimbleberries in sight! The owners were so nice and friendly and helpful. (Helped themselves to a large chunk of my disposable cash for the month!)

If you're ever anywhere within 100 miles of Blessing, Tx (in Matagorda, County near the Gulf of Mexico) and you love bold/brights/novelties you gotta check them out. They also sponsor quilt retreats several times a year for a very reasonable price. I'm seriously thinking of trying to attend one of them later in the year. And I know I'll be back to visit next time I'm at the Markham office. In fact I think I'll stay at the Blessing Hotel right across the street instead of in Bay City where I usually stay. It looks like a nice quaint place I'd like to try and I'd sure rather give my money (or my companies money) to someplace like that than to the Best Western where I usually stay.

No affiliation whatsoever just a very satisfied customer who wished they were closer to my house than 150 miles!

Next time you'll have to take some pix for us. :)

Are we going to get to see the fabric you bought?

Wow, you sure did get back to blogging while I was away... Nice quilts that you donated. You sister did a couple of nice quilts too. I have been wanting to do that pieced cat one for a while now!

The shop sounds too good to miss - isn't it lovely when you discover somewhere like that.

I just came across your blog while reading the Stash Quilt blogs and I fell in Love with your scrappy 9 patch. Could you tell me where you got the pattern or did you just do it out of your creative brain? Thanks for your time. Mary (you can email me at meyer6@iowatelecom.net)

Sounds like you had a much deserved quilty day at the new to you quilt shop. Isn't it fun to find one that thinks just the same way you do in terms of inventory?
