As you can see I have made progress on my floral pastel quilt. I do rather like the way it's coming out. And when I finish it I'm pretty sure I'll have pastel/blendy out of my system. :-) Unfortunately I didn't use even half of each piece of my fabric so there is lots and lots leftover. I had planned to buy one of the co-ordinating wide fabrics for my backing but I'm thinking I'll just piece a back with my leftovers. Then anything left after that can get stripped down for future scrap quilts. And as you can see I haven't forgotten my log cabins. Using them as leaders/enders I finished sewing the rest of my red square/light square combos together so noticeable progress is being made on that project also.
Once these are finished my next project up is a UFO. If you'll go visit Karen at Passionate Quilter and check out her current post you'll see what my next project will look like. I was in that swap with Karen and believe it or not had already pulled mine out this past weekend so I could finish it up next. Then after that is another UFO also a group project started long ago with another online group. So I've been doing pretty good about mixing new projects that use up stash and old projects that reduce my UFO pile.
Now wouldn't you think that warm fuzzy feeling I've been getting from using up stash and finishing some UFOs would make me want to continue pulling from stash or UFO piles for awhile? NO, not me! I've been led astray. I swear it's not my fault. I lay the blame totally on Karen, Susan, and Samantha. Yep I do!
Let me back up and explain myself a little better. I've seen Kaffe Fasset fabrics around for several years and did not care for them at all. I mean they just totally left me flat. I thought they were pretty much the ugliest fabrics I'd ever seen in my life. Then Karen posted the results of a challenge she and a friend did seeing how many projects they could get from a set of FQs. Kaffe Fasset FQs. And I LOVED how they looked in her quilts. So I've found myself looking at them more and more over the past few months. Then a few weeks ago Susan posted a picture of a shop sample she had made using a new pattern by Terri Atkinson called "All About Me". And it just screamed at me how perfect it would be made of those Kaffe fabrics. Then if that wasn't enough a few days ago Samantha just had to post pictures of some of those luscious fabrics that she'd just gotten in the mail. Then to just put the last nail in the coffin, when I commented on her blog that I'd been really drawn to those fabrics lately she was soooooo kind as to send me this link to Wish Upon a Quilt where they currently have a nice little selection of Kaffe Fasset prints ON SALE! Now I'm not known to have just a whole lot of will power especially when I really want something. So of course I had to order 1/2 yard cuts of 20 different fabrics! And I'll be visiting my LQS tomorrow to see if they have that pattern in stock. If not I guess I'll have to call Susan and see if I can order that from her shop.
So that's what you'll be seeing from me for the next little bit. My "Tea in the Garden", Log Cabin, The "Byte by Byte" (like Karen's), "Pity Party" (story on that name in a later post) and then my Kaffe Fasset which I'll probably call "Not My Fault!". Oh and I almost forgot! It's been several years since I did any hand-quilting and Finn and Tonya have me itching to try my hand at baptist fans. So this Yellow Brick Road will be going to work with me tomorrow to be basted and this will be my project to carry to my Wed. night bee and to work on while I'm lazing in my chair. Looks like I'm gonna have a pretty full summer of stitching. :-)

You have been very busy with wonderful results. I like everything I see. Your color choice is great.
I was a little envious of you when you seemed to be describing just how disciplined you were--working on using up your stash and finishing UFOs. Then I read further and realized that you are just like me--tempted to start new projects! Tempted by all the wonderful quilters out there on this list. *VBS*
I love the colours of your YBR as well!
hope your package of 1/2 yard cuts come soon becuase at the rate you're going the pastel/blendy will be done quickly, and if the kafee stuff was there you could start right away! :-)
Isn't interesting how our tastes evolve over time? Something you didn't particularly care for till you could see it in smaller pieces and envision a use for it?
The top is looking good and there is a nice stack of leader-enders piling up for a future log cabin.
Way to go, Nancy.
Hey, when you finish up some UFOs and use up some scraps, you deserve new quilt projects and new fun fabrics.
Really love your pastel blendies with those gorgeous rosy triangles! What a pop! And your Yellow Brick Road is cool too. I just finally bought that pattern last week in Colorado after hearing it mentioned so much.
I've gotta admit, the Kaffe fabrics don't do much for me... lol
I've never been much for using a pre-planned line of colors - in fact, that's one thing my stash absolutely doesn't have, is large splashy prints. Maybe as I quilt more, I'll grow indo them, but right now, I'm at a tone-on-tone place. :)
Everything looks so lovely.
I just love pastel quilts even if I have never made one.Yours is so pretty.I will make one now for sure.
If it's "Not My Fault"- then does that make it MY fault? LOL! I am glad you were able to find the fabric cheaply... And that I could help ;-)
The pastel quilt is coming along beautifully!
And it seemed like just yesterday you were saying that you didn't feel like you would be doing much quilting. But now look at you, kickin' butt and takin' names! Good job!
Boy, oh boy...see Nancy..*S* See Nancy go!!! Go Nancy Go !!! It's wonderful that you are back with a roar!!!
Love the plans, the projects, such good stuff!! And hand quilting too...amazing..*VBS* Good for you my friend, Hugs, Finn
Nancy - I am happy to see that you are making progress with your quilting - you seem to be happier when you have the energy to be a bit productive in the sewing room! Your pastel quilt is lovely - really! I think it would be a good pattern idea for Americana too in red, tans and blues...
And - a little new stash - well, you certainly have room for it after all the stash culling you did earlier! Celebrate with something new!
Cheers!
Evelyn
Wow, you are really motoring at the moment. I love Kaffe Fasset prints - if I'm ever in London I go to the Liberty store in Regent Street where they have the full range of his fabrics. Trouble is, I want them all. Your quilt from them will be very different to the pastel one I think!
Thanks for the link to Wish Upon a Star - I really like US online stores - great ranges of fabric and so much cheaper than here (I would pay nearly three times as much for the Kaffe Fassett fabric here - it works out much better to order from the US.)
glad to have you back--and rarin' to go in the quilt mode again! I love your pastel quilt--and you are SO welcome--I love draggin people into my side of the wacky world! :) Marilyn and I were shopping today and found yet another great idea to use up some more of KF fabrics. And don't feel guilty, you have done a wonderful job in reducing your stash by either creating quilts or donating fabrics.
Pant, pant.....I'm out of breath listening to all you are doing! The problem with Stash Quilts, I find, is that I get TOO many ideas. See your quilts inspires me even more.
hurray for all this back to quilty stuff going on with you! I love the progress you are making-you know it was Tonya and Finn that inspired me to do the bapist fan quilting on that Texas baby quilt I finished a while back-however, I can resist Kaffe Fasset ...one of my shops carries lots of his stuff and I still can live without it :-)
just so glad you are having so much fun!
You have been very busy and everything looks so wonderful! You do really great work!
I see you are back to quilting....
Love the darkish background on your pastel blendy...
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I've come to visit your blog and there is sooo much here to read and look at.
I'll be back tonight when i have more time to read it all. Love the quilts i have seen so far.
Your floral quilt is lovely.
Awesome quilts, you're really on a roll!
*hugs*
