Not a very good quilting weekend. Again I didn't sew a stitch but did spend several hours in the sewing room doing quilty stuff and a while designing quilts on EQ5 to use with some of my stash so I'm gonna at least count it as my 1 hour a day.
These are the fabrics I'm sending my sister for the Fons And Porter Contest we're doing. It's kinda a boring mix with not much pattern in the fabrics but with 3" blocks a bold pattern would have been hard to work with. I mostly picked the colors out of the Laurel Birch Angel Cats which will be used in the borders (and alternate blocks if I decide to go with them. It was a gift a few years ago from a very special friend and I've been looking for just the right use for it. There's way more than 12 pieces and some are similar in shade but I had trouble paring them down so Susan can just pick and choose the ones she wants to work with. The background is a Kona black. Sorry, Susan, it's going to be a bit hard to hand-piece as it's a bit thicker and tighter woven than most quilting cottons. But it's the only black I had enough of on hand and I can't buy anything else until Sept. 1st. :-)

Love the bright colors! I've used Kona cottons for hand piecing-yes, they're a little tougher to needle, but they don't fray from all the handling. So it's a trade-off.
Your quilts are going to be so special.
Wow - what gorgeous bright colours. That border fabric will tie everything is very nicely. Good luck with the contest.
NICE! (I like your fabrics more, but I am a brights gal...) I am seeing those cats fussy cut as alternate squares... I think the border would end up "too" wide to get any amount of cats that were not chopped up a lot. (In general, I like nice wide borders, but with 3 inch squares...)
ohhh, pretty brights, tone on tone type for the itty bitty squares you two are doing.
I would think that EQ time is quilting time since you are doing the planning phases of your quilt prior to cutting it.
Others will look at a magazine or book and accept what it says to cut in what color, how many and what size or get out the sketch and graph paper.
I think it is a blast to recolor, rearrange the blocks and just play with the designs a bit in the software
A boring mix?????? I think it is anything but boring. Of course I love bright fabrics.
I think a lot of us are kind of enjoying shopping in our own stash this month.
That is SO not a boring mix you did great :) What a sweet sister you are :) xoxo melzie
I love the colors too. It is a nice mix of various colors. Luck sister you have. I love the cat print too. Good luck with the contest.
What a terrific mix of colors! I love it! It will be fun watching you and Susan work on your quilts.
I do not find these boring...lots of clear bright colors to play with...it will be such fun for your sister...need another sis? :-)
Hi Nancy, love the colors array..really neat!
And what a great block and layout you came up with..good for you! I wouldn't count what you did as a sin...wasn't for you, not really. Hugs, Finn
Love Kona black! It will be great with these colors - what a fun palette to use! There's enough variation in the colors and prints.
Love your fabric choices. They're so different to Susan's so i'll look forward to seeing the progress on both quilts.
I love those colors. The quilt in the previous post will be great. Also the EQ as a gift doesn't count - it was no "fabric" purchases, right???
Wow those are yummie colors. That will be a beautifull quilt when finished.
