Project Count

I've decided to join the UFO Challenge on the Stashbusters list so it was time to once again get a total of current projects. :-) I took last years list and updated it the best I could as most of my UFOs are in totes in the shop. Blogging sure helped there. All I had to do was go thru my archives for this year. LOL! I dropped a lot of projects off last years count, either given away or abandoned. But I added a lot of new projects on so my count is almost the same as last year.

31 completed tops waiting to be or in the process of being quilted
43 projects that range from all cut to just need borders
8 hand-piecing or applique projects

This is a total of 82 projects. Up 2 from last year's 80. LOL! I really do want to finish some of these this next year. And I mean really finish them, quilted and all. Done-done as it's called on the stashbusters list. Which is why I'm joining their UFO challenge. Because I like making tops but not the quilting so much so once I finish a top in my mind it's done. But since I'd like to have finished quilts instead of a stack of tops I think maybe the challenge will give me added incentive to totally finish a few this year. We all know I'm not good with goals and deadlines so I'm not setting a goal for myself of X number of UFOS that I want to finish. I'll finish what I can. And most definately will add new projects too. And that's okay as long as I finish at least a few of the old ones. And maybe a few of the new ones too. Finished all the way. Done-Done.

if the quilting isn't the fun part for you what about tying more of the tops?, or sending them out to be quilted?, or seeing if there are some ladies at a senior's home nearby that would like to quilt... There must be a way of getting them done done, without spending all your time doing something you're not so fond of. :-)

i'm also a member of the Stashbusters
group although i just lurk. I'm not joining the UFO challenge but i also have plans to finish some of my UFOs next year. I'm in the process of tidying up my sewing room and will go through my UFOs and list them on my blog. Hopefully that will motivate me into getting a number of them finished.

Did I miss something? I'm not on the Stashbusters list but I read the ring. Must have been asleep on this challenge, LOL! But I've been steadily working through my UFOs. In fact I'm cutting kits to complete some more.

I'm in the UFO Challenge on Stashbusters too. I have many of my active UFOs listed on the sidebar of my blog so I can always see them. I'm sure I have some inactive UFOs, but I'm not worryinh about them for now. Good luck on getting some of your UFOs done. I'll be here cheering you on.

It is certainly understandable that you don't particularly want to quilt that many quilts! Even if you did longarm quilting it would take forever. Could you find someone who is learning to longarm quilt and let them do some of yours as practice? Just a thought.

Brave you for signing up for the UFO challenge! I am in the no-buy group and that is plenty for ME! I do have a list of UFO's I started last yr, so I will try "spirit' of UFO challenge :::big grin:::

I like that -- done-done. I would like to have some more of my UFO's done-done as well.

I hope you get some done-done this year.

Hi Nancy, I was on the Stashbusters UFO challenge last year..or maybe it wasn't the same one. I started the years with 60+ and I had gotten 18 done by July. All I had hoped for was 1 a month, so I feel I did good.
It really helped me to seperate the one UFO's that I (really) didn't like and let them become giveaways or abandoned and put back in stash.
I'll keep you company next year..*VBS* Big hugs, Finn

I dont think I'll do the stashbuster listing thing again but I did it last year and all told had about as many as you have. Some got done and others didn't suffice to say, LOL.

This year I am going to pick the top 12 and try for one a month and that will only be personal UFOs, not the donation quilt stuff.

Tee Hee - good luck.... (I recently looked again at my meager goals for last year - back when I was on a Nickel Quilts high, BAH HA HA I am on the floor rolling over how much I accomplished!)

I am still a member of stashbusters, but I havn't even looked at my yahoo groups since I started to blog....

Good luck getting to done-done! I'm sure the challenge will be inspiring. I could use one like that myself!

Deciding what to finish done-done, what to change to move it forward and what to give away was a big help in reducing my UFO list. I sold a few tops on e-bay and the winning bidders were so tickled to have a completed top to get going on. Some of them said, "Tx! Most of the work is done!" Just goes to show, different strokes for different folks." =)
