Bento Boxes top done!

I decided yesterday to pull Abbie's Bento Boxes out work on it a bit. Got the blocks done yesterday and put the top together this morning. I'm thinking this doesn't need a border it's so busy already. Maybe about a 2" black border and finish it off with the binding - probably pink. I'm pretty pleased. :-)

Someone asked me about the size strips I used as she couldn't find the pattern. I don't have the pattern either. It's just a half log cabin so I didn't see any reason to purchase a pattern for that. I used 3-1/2" strips for Abbie's quilt for a finished block size of 9". For my sample block I did not have enough of any of the fabrics left to sew a sample using 3-1/2" strips so I cut those strips 2-1/2". That gave me a finished block size of 6" or 12" when I put the 4 blocks together. A nice size for my sampler quilt.

Very pretty - it is busy but I like it. I think a border would frame it nicely. I used 2 and 1/2 inch strips on my version and a 4 inch border and thought it worked well.

I agree with you too! I didn't buy a pattern for this one either since it is a 1/2 log cabin. I made it with 2.5" strips and it worked out great too...but your 3.5" would go FASTER and that is a great way to clear out some smaller cuts of fabric!

I've got a Bento Box all kitted up and waiting on my cutting table. Yours is just great!

I love it! That pattern is definately on my "someday" list. Yours is just great!! I like the idea of a black border to tie it all together.

this looks SO wonderful! I think a simple black border will set it off beautifully!

Very cool! (I had the same opinion of the pattern - too easy to buy.) BTW That pink that glitters on your quilt will be in my pink quilt... :o) I love that "brand."

sure like the mix of fabrics/colors Nancy! it is so much fun to look at something and figure out the pattern and do it your way. I think a black border sounds just the ticket! and, did I mention how much I like the colors?? LOL...it came out great!

Really turned out great Nancy!! I used 3.5" strips in mine also, working with bright flannels. It works up fast and is interesting, but you sure don't need a pattern. Thanks for sharing the bluebells and the Indian Paint Brush, I'm with you, blue is better with orange..*VBG*
