I took the day off to take care of some personal business that I've not been able to get done for the last month. When I finished I decided to take a little ride to check on the bluebonnets. They're coming in okay around here. Not as thick as they usually are but still pretty. I decided to head over to Brenham. For some reason they always have pretty banks of bluebonnets than you see on the roadsides around here.
Yet another example of how great blue and orange look together. As much as I love the bluebonnets I LOVE the fields with Indian Paintbrush mixed in much better. :-)
These are the last photos with my old camera. My new one came in this afternoon -of course AFTER I left for my ride! And I had to try 3 or 4 times for each picture to get the camera to work so it's time to be retired.

You are way ahead of us Nancy ! We don't have any bluebonnets in bloom yet in North Texas. This rain will have to help them though.
Cold coming in tonight, a reminder it is still march !
Thanks for the pictures of spring! We still have about 2 feet of snow, though tis melting away into ice at a great rate... Its great to be reminded that there will be flowers again.
Oh!!! I miss the blue bonnets! That's one thing I was sad to leave behind when we moved out of Texas!

The bluebonnets are gorgeous! Just beautiful!
Very pretty, did you stop at the blue bell creamery? (I really really like their Tin Roof!) My mother's Aunt & Uncle lived in Brenham for a spell...
oh, oh. just gorgeous to see Nancy. I bought fabric that looked like this so I would have a fabric memory of our time playing in Texas...thanks for these wonderful photos! I bet you are going to sooo enjoy your new camera! looking forward to more spring photos...
So, so pretty. I love the singer Nanci Griffith and her song "Gulf Coast Highway" Your pictures remind of it-----
"this is the only place on earth bluebonnets grow, and once a year they come and go at this old house here by the road---and when we die we say we'll catch some blackbird's wing and we'll fly away to heaven come some sweet bluebonnet spring"

I've never seen them in the flesh not having gone to TX but can still enjoy looking at the pictures you posted.
Nancy:
Thanks for the pictures. I really miss getting to drive over to Texas and see the wild flowers.
