I was so tired when I came home I cooked supper, sat in my chair and decided I didn't feel like sewing tonight. But then I remembered I'd promised myself just 5 minutes in the sewing room every day doing just a little something. So off I went. The first thing I saw was this pile of scraps waiting to be sorted and folded or cut into strips, squares and bricks. The little piles of squares in the front of the picture are 2" squares I cut out from the part of the background squares I cut out after appliquing the quarter circles to them. I cut those as I went at the same time I trimmed each block to size.
It took me about and hour to go from the mess above to this pile of squares, strips, bricks and larger bits all waiting to be put up in their drawers or boxes. And I had a small pile of bits to go in the crumb bin. Not a bad showing for having made myself get up and do something instead of sitting in my chair like a lump.

Good for you! How good it is to keep your promise to yourself, and the feeling of accomplishment for even small tasks is rewarding. Keep it up...I'm trying to to the same.

As Gail says, good for you for getting up to do your five minutes (that stretched out); we should all do the same.

Productive evening after all, Nancy. Don't you find that when you sew sometimes when your heart is not in it that you end up ripping out more than stays in?

I promised myself 15 minutes a day on some fiber art, and like you some days just drag myself to do it, but often find it stretches out, I'm happier, and more stuff is done/orgainzed :-) Keep up the work!

Thanks for your comment re my ostrich RR block. I'd love to see what you're planning for this creature....

Well done Nancy! Doesn't it feel good? For me the hardest part is just getting started. Once I get started then the rest seems easy.

Way to go Nancy! Sometimes we all just need a little kick-start to get going and then we are on a roll. Five minute segments that stretch out is good.

Cheers!

I love the stage of having all kinds of bits, all cut and ready to sew - that's my absolute favorite part of quilting. :) Not the cutting, but having the squares and strips and triangles all cut.

I really dislike the pressing... but accept the necessity. I don't mind the cutting and squaring up of blocks. I like the planning stage quite a bit, working on EQ and picking blocks and layouts and colors. But sewing's the best. :)
