2/3 thru the challenge and still nothing quilty bought. :-) I didn't end up going to Hobby Lobby so I didn't have to test myself there. LOL! David needed some stick-on velcro for a project he was building and when we were at Radio Shack getting the electronic components we just picked up some there. It cost more that it would have at HL but that was one less stop (and temptation) to have to make.
I know most of you think I'm counting down until I can purchase again but really, this has not been all that hard. I could easily go another 6 months or so without any quilty purchases and still have plenty to work with. At least if we're just talking about tops. I'm almost out of batting so will need to purchase that. I will be going to Hancocks on Sept 1st but only because I have that certificate that expires the next day and I don't want to lose it. But I'm doubting any fabric follows me home. Probably just batting.
I'm still plugging away on my hour-a-day. I have all the blocks completed and will start sashing them tomorrow. I expect a finished top in a few more days. I've really enjoyed this project and expect to be able to continue the hour a day with my own projects.
And just because I haven't shared a cat photo lately, here's Fluffy. His newest spot to sleep is in or beside the bathroom sink.

Your blocks look great - going to be a very pretty quilt. It's been fun to watch everyone's progress.
And Fluffy is very handsome! :-)
The Hour quilt is going to be lovely! Everyone's is so different, but they all look great. Thanks for the Fluffy update. =)
way to go on avoiding temptation! LOL I agree with you, I could go many months without buying--heck I could go years! I might add another month to my depression and just keep adding and I might hit a year without buying. The backings is where I get into trouble. But I really could make do if I really had to, I might have to force myself! Your 1-hr. blocks are looking nice. I had my retreat last weekend, so had many hours in sewing, but not on that challenge. I do have the fabrics pulled for the squares though.
really coming along Nancy-good for you!
thanks for the photo of Fluffy-he looks very content.
The 1 Hour blocks are looking nice. It's fun to see such variety in blocks from blog to blog. Your kitty looks quite comfy in his new spot.
Glad you're finding the challenge not to hard. It sounds like a wise move to avoid an extra stop and temptation though -- its the impulse buys when I'm tired that are the most "what was I thinking" fabrics often :-)
Your blocks are beautiful, Nancy. I tried to pull fabric yesterday, but couldn't decide which way I wanted to go. Will have to think about that this week.
This month hasn't been hard for me, either. And those online newsletter aren't tempting me any more. I actually looked at a couple yesterday. Naw!
((HUGS))
Nancy,
I like the scrappiness of your blocks. I'm getting closer to starting mine. If only.....
I'm glad you're having no problem with the no buy challenge. Have you thought about buying batting by the roll?
The quilt is looking great, and your cat is very cute. Don't they love to sleep in the oddest places lol.
I've been enjoying reading the history behind you and your sisters quilts. Thanks for sharing them.
Your blocks look good. Good for you on the fabric diet. I think we all could go without buying fabric for a while.
Fluffy probably likes the sink because it is cool. I like Fluffy's black and white chin. What a pretty cat!
Good to know that your resolve was not tested but it sounds like batting is reasonable and necessary to get those tops into quilts!
I bet Fluffy is liking the cool porcelain. Boy, can they be silly creatures. Is the other fellow staying right by the bed and risking your stepping on him and you risking, tripping over him?
Great job on keeping up with the No Buy pledge. I started mine this morning and am not going to buy anything, unless I need it for a project, until the end of August.
Your blocks are looking good too. Your quilt will be awesome.
Had to laugh at Fluffy! Our Natasha curls up and sleeps in the bathroom sink sometimes. I call it her "spa". Silly cats!!
