If you are a praying person I'd like to request that you say one for my Dad. If you need a name to pray for he's called Tillman. Sorry I don't feel comfortable giving a whole name on the internet. God will know who he is. :-) He's currently in the hospital and not doing well. This might sound cruel and heartless but my prayer request is not that he will pull thru but that the Lord will see fit to take him Home. He has alzheimers and for the past year or so he's basically been just a body in a bed waiting to go Home. The part of him that was my Dad has been long gone and I know he would not want to continue on this way. God already has his soul. I'm just praying that He's ready for the body to follow.
Also please pray for Susan as she heads home tonight to talk with his doctors and make arrangements to move him to a long-term care facility if that is what is required.

You have my prayers Nancy. My your father and all the rest of your family find lasting peace.
Nancy,
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
You are not cruel and heartless, you are a daughter who loves her Dad.
Just 7 weeks ago I lost my Mom to lung cancer. I prayed for her pain to end and not for her to suffer.
You have definitely got it--you and David, Susan and her family and your dad to have an easy passing. Alzheimers is such a cruel, cruel disease and no one will thank ill of you for saying what you did.
I don't think it sounds heartless to wish that your Dad's suffering would end. I've never thought that life is worth living no matter what - there comes a time when you want the suffering of your loved ones to stop. I'll say a prayer for you all.
We put my dad in a nursing home 2 weeks ago. I understand what you are going through. My dad has given up, but his body hasn't. I'm sending lots of prayers that your family reaches the best decision for your dad.
Nancy - big hugs to you. Even if you think you are very prepared for it and it is the best thing... it is still very hard to loose a loved one. I felt the very same way when my Mom lost her fight with cancer. You hate to see them suffer, but the ending is so... final. It is just a difficult time, all around. Hang in there and remember, we are always here for you.
XOXO
Evelyn
You have my prayers, and if it helps, my reassurances that you are NOT heartless. It takes an amazing amount of strength to allow ourselves to let our loved ones go when it is the best thing for them. I send my best to you, Susan, and your whole family.
Prayers and thoughts for and yours. And, my hope is that your Dad will finally rest.
((HUGS))
It does not sound cruel at all. We've dealt with this disease, and a stroke on top of it, and I totally commiserate with you and understand your feelings on this. Prayers being said for him, for you and for Susan.
may the lord bless you and keep you. May the lord make his face to shine upon you, and bring you peace...
No Nancy - you're not being heartless at all. I saw my sister suffer and it was my prayer for her that she be called home without any further pain and suffering. My prayer will be the same for your Dad. May God give you the strength to get through the next chapter ..... (((HUGS))) for your heart.
Being able to let go is the greatest of gifts. Do not fear that your request is cruel -- it comes only from an abundance of love. Prayers for you and all family in this difficult time mixed with a lot of big, squeezy hugs.
Nancy--your Dad, Susan, you and your family all have my prayers during such a sad, difficult time. Wanting your Dad to be out of suffering is not cruel. What is cruel is to wish them to stay longer with us, no matter what their condition. May God put his loving arms around your family and comfort you as you journey into another phase of life.
You are a loving daughter wishing mercy and kindness on her father, you are not heartless or cruel. Alzheimer's is cruel. You, Susan and Tilman will be in my prayers.
of course! and big hugs to you-this is not going to be an easy time to go through..I too have watched my mom suffer and sat with her telling her it was ok to let go, leave the pain behind-that is all any child would wish for their parent-like others have said, it is out of your great love that you want your dad to find this final peace.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It's not cruel to wish for release Alzheimers is a terrible disease.
your dad and your family are in my prayers
Hugs, hugs, hugs to both you and Susan. And prayers for all of you. It is so hard to watch our parents suffer during their end times. Alzheimers is a horrible and confusing condition. I am so sorry your family is going through this.
Prayers for you, Susan and your dad. So sorry to hear that you are going through such a difficult time.
Prayers are coming your way, for Tillman, Susan, and you. May God hold you all in the palm of His hand.
Please know I'm thinking of you and your family.
You have my fervent prayers, Nancy, during this difficult time. Please keep us posted on Dad's condition. We are here for you.
((HUGS))
My prayers that God's will be done go out to you and your family.
Carolyn
