Quilt design and I have sinned!

Thanks everyone for trying to help me find the pattern I was looking for.

First here's the quilt design.

I drew this block up in EQ5 and think I have it like I remembered it. And if not I'm happy with this so it's what I'm going with.

These are the fabrics I'm using. The purple in the block drawing is going to be the peacock fabric. The others you can pretty much figure out form the block coloring.

And this is what the finished quilt should look like with the peacock fabric also used in the final border.

And now for the sinning. I had a major purchase of a quilting item today. But it was a gift so do I have to count it?

Let me explain why it couldn't wait until Sept. My sister has a birthday coming up. A MAJOR birthday that requires a major gift. Now I have EQ5. I also have EQ4 that I was going to send her as my purchase of EQ5 was not an upgrade but a full purchase so I don't feel like it violates any software licensing to give her the original disk and manuals for a program I no longer have installed on any computer in my house. BUT while she could send me EQ4 files and I could convert them you can't conver EQ5 files backwards so I wouldn't be able to share with her. So a copy of EQ5 should be in her hands before her birthday so we can play together long distance. And technically since it's being shipped directly to her it will never enter my house so I'm not going to call it a cheat. It's my personal challenge anyway, I can change the rules upon occasion if I wish! LOL!

I personally think it is is okay and not falling off the wagon---the rules were pretty loose and probably took into account such things as gifts. They did for vacation stops and round robins etc. Vicky, a ruling here??

Did you just "out" your sister's age here, LOL? I guess she admits it in her intro though.

I love the block you have drawn up--very nice especially wheh you see the whole of the quilt below and the fabrics you have pulled to make it.

Of course that doesn't count as falling off the no-buy wagon. It was for someone else - not you. And it's a perfect gift for your sister.

I love the churn dash variation you've designed here. Churn dash is one of my favorite blocks, and this is a great derivation that causes neat things to happen at the block corners. The fabrics are beautiful.

You are the BEST sister anyone ever had. I have been trying to talk myself into buying EQ5, but haven't been able to justify the expense right now with DH not working. Told myself I would have to be happy with EQ4, that it was more than I had now and it would be fine. Thank you in advance.

gifts are not purchases for you, so in my book there was no sinning :-) And boy, do you want another sister -- I have EQ5, but if b'days get such nice gifts I want in on the deal!! hahaha

A gift is not falling off the wagon. What a great sister you are!

I thought it was mostly for fabric and stuff anyway... :)

Software doesn't count, of COURSE!

Beautiful fabrics - and such a nice block to showcase that wonderful peacock fabric.

Isn't it fun to play with EQ5? My best quilts are made on that program. (And I agree with everyone else - it is NOT fabric, and it is a GIFT. You did not violate any rules.)

I agree - gifts aren't purchases for you and don't count for the challenge. I often buy quilting related gifts for my Mom even when I'm restricting my purchases.

I will be excited to see that quilt made up. I love the secondary design coming through. I love EQ also. I never could get into coloring squares of graph paper.

Oh, my, that quilt is gorgeous! Can't wait to see it all made up!!

Official Depression Ruling: Gifts don't count - whether you're the gifter or the giftee. So there!! :)

You and your sister are having way too much fun with this quilty stuff! Lucky you for having a sister!!

That's a lovely design Nancy. I like to be surprised with the secondary design that pops out when I work with EQ. That looks like kind of a kaleidescope pattern. Can't wait to see the finished result.

Love those fabrics! I can't wait to see that quilt. For this quilt, I like the limited pallette & those fabrics are perfect! Those peacocks are lovely....

When are you sending me the quilt? (Oh, its not for me... Does it have a purpose beyond, "Becasue I want to make it" - Which is perfectly fine with me!)

Love it!!! I do not have EQ YET - - but I am very intrigued by all that can be done with it. I love your design, can't wait to see it done up.
