2007 - A Blank Slate

I sure didn't mean for last nights post to be such a downer. :-( That's what I get for posting late when I'm tired and a bit upset.

Poor Fluffy STILL hasn't pooped but she sent him home anyway. Said he was freaking so bad there at the clinic that stress was just adding to his problem. She's hoping that after going in and removing some of the "stuff" that being at home he'll relax and be able to go. We'll see. He is at least much happier now. And we've had a bit of a cuddle and snooze together so I'm happier too. :-) BTW he sure better be glad I REALLY love him cause you can imagine the cost of 3 days of emergency vet care on a holiday weekend!

Okay so enough of that. 2007 is a new year so I'm just going to put aside the bad from 2006 and concentrate on having the best 2007 that I possibly can. Like I've said before NO GOALS. I just plan to do what makes me happy at the time and hopefully it will make me happy to finish up some stuff in the next 12 months. I do hope to be able to motivate myself to sew at least 15 minutes each day. And to start the year off the way I hope to continue I've been working on string blocks for the Heartstings charity project. I pulled a handfull of strips from each of my 1-1/2, 2, 2-1/2, and 3" bins and just had fun. I managed to get 12 blocks done this morning. Boy these sure are addicting. I plan to make these during my 15 minutes when I don't feel like doing anything specific. And when I get 20 finished I'll send them in. These are the 12 I did today.
And AS USUAL these 2 pictures were taken about 30 seconds apart. Sam seems to have a sixth sense telling him when I lay quilt blocks out. Cause one minute he was sleeping up front and the next he was on my blocks. LOL!
Not that Sam has an exclusive as a quilt "helper". I was sewing along, reached for another strip and encountered fur. LOL! Charlie just couldn't understand why she wasn't allowed to wallow in the strips.

those strips look like the perfect cat toy, and they make mighty pretty blocks too :-) Good plan to have a "no thought" activity on the back burner for days you don't know what to do with your 15 minutes....

I just love those blocks! Glad to hear that Fluffy is back home. Nice to see your furry helpers are at work! I think quilting would be a lot more lonley an experience and not quite so interesting without them!

What great pictures! Love the string blocks and love the kitties. I'm so glad to hear the Fluffy is back home and that is seems she'll be OK. How scary for all of you.

I'm glad your post today is more upbeat. I read it first, then yesterdays. I could feel your pain in yesterday's post. I'm so glad you have wonderful memories of your family members who are no longer with you. One continues to miss them so much, but time at least does make it easier. Here's to a much better 2007 for your entire family.

I love string quilts and tell myself that I'm going to make more but alas I haven't. Sigh! LOL Your blocks are wonderful - keep making them!

BTW, don't ever apologize for anything that you have to say - you obviously needed to vent and we were here to "listen" and we always will be. Relax and enjoy the new year!

You're right--cats do have a sixth sense about when quilt blocks are being laid out. It's their "duty" to perform closeup inspections LOL. Hope 2007 is a better year.

Love the string quilt blocks, Nancy! So lively and cheery. A member of my quilt guild in NY had a great idea for foundation-piecing strips right onto fleecy foundation - I blogged about it last year here: http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

Happy New Year to you!!!!

Adorable helpers you have there! I'm beginning to think cats have a 6th sense about fabric.

I love the string blocks - you made all 12 this morning? I've been making a couple here and there between unpacking and trying to get used to the new longarm so I've only got 10 blocks done. I was wondering how many to make before sending them in and 20 sounds like a good number. I plan on quilting a couple string tops I have and working on another 2 string UFO's for the project in addition to quilting some tops so I think I'll just keep doing some blocks in between the other things I'm working on and send them in periodically.

I can imagine the vet bill since Chesty tends to have medical issues that require more healthcare than Keith or me. In fact, the one Dr. we have found so far since the move is the Vet!

I hope Fluffy is better now. It is so hard when pets are sick and you can't help and they can't tell you what hurts.

The string blocks look great - I need to try me some of those!

Best wishes for 2007.
