Well I didn't quite get my homework completed for the HAD project but I'm close. Just have the final 2 corners to put on the blocks then trim them down to size. I'll get that done tomorrow night and will just have to be a day behind until I can catch up next weekend. I wasn't really planning to do the HAD this month but I really like the pattern. And I had the 9-patch blocks already started with another project that I cut way too many squares for so I figured why not. With the addition of the navy w/white stars to the red/white 9-patches it will make a nice patriotic quilt to donate to one of the organizations collecting quilts for our wounded servicemen.
I'm discovering my stash is getting really low on larger cuts. I had a lot of trouble finding the blue for this quilt. I finally remembered I had a backing piece that was navy with small white stars. I think there was about 5 yds in that piece so I'll have some leftover but I can always find a use for the extra 1-1/2yds later. I'm also discovering I have very few white background fabrics left. I had about an equal amount of cream/tans as I did whites. Now my cabinet is full of the creams and I had trouble finding a white with enough on it to do this project. Guess I need to hit the quilt shop for backgrounds before I go on my fabric diet with Vicky in May. Of course since gift certificates don't count I could always use my JoAnns Creative Cash cards I get for using my JoAnns credit card for all my gas/groceries/etc. and any bills that takes a credit card. I pay the card in full every month and usually end up with $15 to $30 worth of gift cards each month. Keeps me in thread and batting and rotary blades with a bit left over for the odd FQ here and there.

Its looking good!
I like your fabric choices. I didn't know Joanne's had a credit card. Shows how much I pay attention when I'm in the store.
That good it is to have reserves in stash. Thus when an idea is happened to you you begin to look for and you find the necessary thing to make your project. I like much what you are doing.
Love those fabric choices.
BTW, is that your new machine? Pretty jazzy looking! :-)
Oh that is really pretty. I love the colors together!
Very nice!
You blocks look lovely. I like the Amazon card myself. It's amazing what you can by on Amazon. It's really the first time I have a credit card that works for me! Happy quilting!
That's going to be a great patriotic quilt! I'm hankering to do one now!
Great going on the HAD!
Hugs
The nine patches look great. You have a whole month to buy fabric before your fabric diet...wink...wink
Your HAD quilt is coming along nicely. I'm not doing this one, but enjoy seeing what others have chosen for fabrics.
Those colours will make a very good patriotic quilt.
So-- JoAnn's Fabrics has a credit card that you can use at other store and then built up credit/points for fabric at their store? That is amazing - and wonderful - I would sure use those points over any Airmiles points :))
Nice quilt blocks! If your stash is dwindling, that means you've really been working hard!
Hi Nancy, love the top you've got going with leftover blocks. A very attractive combination.
And I read down far enough to catch up on you and yours, *VBS* My deepest sympathy for the loss of Sam..always hard to lose one.
Great tops you are sending off to Linda J., Real beauties! You are getting so much done...good girl!! Hugs, Finn
Maybe I should look into that credit card instead of saying no......
Patriotic is going to look so nice!
Great color choices on the HAD! I'm totally a red, white & blue fan.
How great that you're using up your stash. Makes room for more stuff, huh? lol!
The patriotic colors will look great when you're finished. Keep it up!!!
